Mundomar welcomes a new arrival to its installations in Benidorm with the birth of a penguin chick.  This species of Penguin, the Spheniscus Humboldti originates from Central Peru and Chile and is considered to be in danger of extintion.

Humboldt penguins are named after the cold current of water running from the Antarctic to the equator along the west coast of South America.  This cold current is named after Friedrich Humboldt a German Naturalist.   Highly adapted for life in the water, penguins have black and white plumage, and their wings have evolved into flippers.

The young chick is doing well and has been accepted into the colony by the other penguins at the park.  These beautiful flightless birds are one of the most popular attractions at the Benidorm Theme park.
