The Gran Hotel Bali in Benidorm will host its 12th Tower Running Competition on Saturday 30th of May. This event is now a fixture on the World Tower Running Association and Vertical World Circuit calendars.
Tower running or stairclimbing has become an organised sport with stairclimbing races taking place around the world. Competitors run up the stairs of skyscraper buildings including some of the World’s tallest buildings such as the Empire State Building or the Gran Hotel Bali in Benidorm. These races are also known as Vertical Marathons or Tower Runs and have a huge following.
The Gran Hotel Bali Run, challenges competitors to climb 52 stories with 924 steps, a total climb of 190 metres.
The Gran Hotel Bali Run is held in one of the tallest hotels in Europe, it is the only challenge of its kind that is held in a Spanish Skyscraper and it is the oldest tower running race in Europe.
Taking part this year will be last year’s winners, brothers Angel & Rosi Llorens as well as competitors from Slovakia, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Czech Republic & Estonia
