Benidorm Promotion is a group of companies whose aim is to offer every service available in Benidorm to tourists the world over.
We have interviewed Mr Serge Gambi, President of Benidorm Promotion to find out a little bit more about this Federation.
Serge, an impresario, arrived in Benidorm in March 1974, fell in love with Benidorm and the surrounding area. He decided to stay, develop his ideas for tourism and work with the companies dedicated to this sector.
What now appears easy to achieve was initially rather complicated. It took years of meetings and workshops with the local companies, many of them from very different fields in tourism, to collect the various ideas and collate them to form the Federation.
The following is an excerpt of the interview with Serge in which he explains how Benidorm Promotion was conceived, what it is comprised of and the role that Benidorm Town Hall plays in it.
Serge, what is Benidorm Promotion?
Benidorm Promotion is the result of an idea from various business managers, Associations and Presidents to promote Benidorm in and beyond our region.
Which associations are you referring to?
At the present time Benidorm has more than 1.560 different businesses that have formed various associations, for example; - the Association of Apartments, Association of Travel Agents, Association of Tradesmen, Association of Restaurants, and the Association of Young Impresarios.
We also have various theme parks and shows, for example, Aqualandia, Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Benidorm Palace, Castle Conde de Alfaz and many others.
The members have worked directly with the Town Hall to create this federation, and this will benefit the visitors to this region.
How did the idea to form a Federation of Association and Companies come about?
Benidorm is a unique place. There is no other town like it. It offers sun, fantastic beaches, fun and entertainment. It is easy to get to Benidorm for all visitors, Nationals or Internationals, but the best way to promote our town is to ensure that visitors are pleased with their visit and would like to return. When they return home and tell family and friends about their holiday they are proving how much they have enjoyed it here. Others will then follow to find out what Benidorm has to offer them. This is not enough; we also need to promote Benidorm and is this is where the Federation comes into play.
What relationship does the Town Hall have with the Federation?
We work very closely with the Town Hall. Benidorm is not only a holiday destination. We have all the facilities here to hold congresses, concerts and sports events, as we demonstrated this year with the Davis Cup.
Is it difficult to co-ordinate so may different businesses in the Federation?
Not really, the Federation is already established, our aims are clear, so it is actually very rewarding to see the results. We have been working since May 2005 to achieve a common goal from all the different perspectives of our members.
Why recommend Benidorm?
Benidorm is the tourist capital of the Valencian Community. As I mentioned before we can offer the visitor everything they are looking for whether it is our fantastic beaches, with access and swimming for the disabled , theme parks, sports installations, golf courses or any of other activities we have, for example scuba diving. We have discotheques’, dances, live music and live acts and plenty of good restaurants to suit all pockets.
Our members want the best for this region and Benidorm Promotion allows us to promote our town and to ensure that our visitors get the best we have to offer.
On that note, we take our leave from Mr Gambi, someone who is contributing to making Benidorm even better.
Thank you Serge.
