The holiday comparison web site “minube” has ranked the 25 most picturesque look out points in Spain and among them is the Benidorm Castle view point located in the old town of Benidorm and probably the most well recognised image of the city it is photographed by millions of tourists every year.

The white stone balustrade, blue and white decorative tiling with the Mediterranean Sea in the back ground makes for the perfect postcard snap shot from your holiday in Benidorm. BenidormViewPoint.reduced

The comparison web site highlights the spectacular views from the “Balcony of the Mediterranean”, from where you can gaze out over the Mediterranean sea, with the unique Benidorm Island as a back drop, contemplate the beauty of the Poniente and Levante beaches, the famous Benidorm Skyline and the amphitheatre of mountains that surround the resort, such as the Sierra Aitana with the impressive Puig Campana and the Sierra Helada mountain which unfolds down to the sea.

This view point was originally an old fortress built upon a large rock, named El Canfali,  in the middle of the two beaches.   This fortress was used as a watch tower to prevent pirate attacks.  Only the cannons, on display in the centre of the view point and the walls, remain from the original fortress.  One of which dates back to the 14th century.

Benidorm shares this ranking with another viewpoint in the Marina Baixa area, the Cronistas de España in Altea and the Saint Nicolas viewpoint in Albaicín in Granada.

Benidorm was also rated as one of the best destinations to visit during Easter 2015, along with Barcelona and Madrid by Trivago.com
